Fixed Implant Supported Denture

Posted on 11/1/2017 by Dr. Franco
Choosing the right denture system for you can be challenging, but here at BiteLock, Dr. Pedro Franco is up for the challenge. For many of our patients, they come in either thinking they know exactly what type of system they want or have no idea what they are getting themselves into. It is usually one extreme or the other. Fortunately, we have the knowledge and experience to handle even those with the most difficult cases. To see what we can do for your smile to bring back your functionality and confidence, give us a call today.

What is a Fixed Implant Supported Denture?

For many, a traditional denture just doesn’t cut it. They want aesthetically pleasing, fully functional teeth. This is entirely understandable, and we have options for that! With our fixed implant supported denture, we can give you a set of brand new teeth nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth. These dentures are based on four to six dental implants which are surgically installed into your upper or lower jawbones. These implants fuse with the surrounding bone and act as very strong roots to your new false teeth. Once they are healed and strong enough, we mount dentures right onto the implants themselves, cementing or screwing them into place. These are made of porcelain laid over metal, providing for a very strong, and very permanent new smile.

Benefits of a Fixed Implant Supported Denture

There are a wide range of benefits that make a fixed implant-supported denture a great option for you if you have enough bone left. First of all, it is permanent! You can take care of these teeth in much the same way that you would your natural teeth, and they look identical. These dentures are also incredibly stable, allowing you to eat and speak normally again, entirely uninhibited by any movement. Your flavor sensitivities are also uninhibited, which cannot always be said for regular dentures. Your gums will not become inflamed or irritated since these teeth will not shift uncomfortably.

While this is a more expensive option than traditional dentures, they are much cheaper than getting a whole mouthful of regular implants and crowns. We combine the best of both worlds to give you a dazzling and comfortable smile. Cosmetically speaking, these teeth look the most natural, and because they are implant based, they eliminate bone loss over time. This means you will not have to deal with sinking lips and cheeks, a side effect of diminishing jawbones. These are a long-term solution that will bring back your comfortability and confidence in a short amount of time.

Dr. Pedro Franco here at BiteLock can help you determine if you are a candidate for this denture system. It is a great option if you have the proper bone density, and if you do not, then you may be eligible for a bone graft which can open many doors for you. For more information on your options for dentures, call and set up a consultation with our knowledgeable staff today.
