Why All-on-4® Treatment Concept is Better than Dentures

Diagram of All On 4 Implant Supported Dentures used by Dallas oral surgeon at BiteLock.Dentures fulfill a basic necessity. We all need to be able to chew our food in order to get the range of vitamins and nutrition we need to be healthy. The problem is, dentures alone can never be a perfect solution. Without an anchor, dentures rely on staying in place with suction or adhesives, neither of which are reliable or long lasting. The All-on-4® Treatment Concept provides the anchor we need to have long lasting stability so that your denture can be functional. Our team at BiteLock, under the direction of oral surgeon, Dr. Franco, can give you that stability. We can help your dentures permanently stay in place.

Dentures

People have tried to replace missing teeth for about as long as man has been on this planet. Scientists have uncovered humans attempt at replacing teeth with shell, wood, metal and more that are centuries old. The need to restore teeth has been part of our health needs all along. The difficult part of this need is, it hasn’t been terribly successful.

From poor placement, to poor function, and even the body rejecting the materials, dentures have never been noted for their comfort or ease of use. Dentures have been laughed about on tv, in movies, and in literature. We all have this image in our heads of the elderly person who frequently loses their denture, or that it comes out while eating. Unfortunately, these hassles come with some level of truth. Many people find dentures to be a frustrating adventure. They experience problems with their device coming loose, shifting around in their mouth, causing sore spots, and not being able to chew naturally. Studies show that patients with dentures even pull back socially, afraid that their dentures will embarrass them. The All-on-4® Treatment Concept is different.

The All-on-4® Treatment Concept Anchors your Denture

Dr. Franco is able to stabilize your dentures by providing an anchor. Following your evaluation, we will create a treatment plan that places four dental implants into your jawbone. These implants are titanium posts, they will serve as new tooth roots, creating a strong connection between your jawbone and your denture device. Decades of research has gone into this study, along with using metal for corrective surgeries all over the human body.
Titanium is a strong metal, that is also lightweight, and has the unique ability of being biocompatible with your body. Studies have shown us that your body not only heals, but will create connective links to the titanium, blending your bone tissue and the metal together to make a strong hold. This process allows us to anchor your denture device, and for you, that means that your dentures will feel and work like your own natural teeth.

The All-on-4® Treatment Concept is not just a step higher in comfort and quality, it is many steps higher. It is the difference between thinking about your teeth with every bite, and forgetting that you ever even had a problem to begin with.

Structural Support

If you have dentures, or have seen people with dentures, you may be aware of the loss of facial bone support that comes with wearing them. Patients who are missing teeth, and have loose dentures, experience significant bone loss in their jawbone, altering their outward appearance. Dr. Franco can reverse the damaging effects, making your face look younger and giving you more confidence in your appearance. Using the All-on-4® Treatment Concept, we can take your dentures, whether they are new to you, or you have been wearing them for years, and permanently attach them directly to your jawbone with the assistance of four implanted titanium posts which are used to stabilize them. Our staff at BiteLock will work with you, we will review your oral health, discuss any medical conditions, and can even work with your personal physician to help you surgically retain your dentures with the All-on-4® Treatment Concept.

How do my teeth keep my facial structure strong?

Your natural teeth has a root that bridges your tooth to your jawbone. Your jawbone is full of living cells that constantly rebuilds, keeping it strong. When you use your teeth with chewing and talking, you are helping this bone rejuvenate. As you use your teeth, you apply motion and pressure to your roots which then passes that motion and pressure to your jawbone. When a tooth is lost, and the root is lost, the bone no longer receives this stimulation of motion. Just as any muscle or bone in your body, without motion, it atrophies. Knows as bone resorption, the bone quickly responds to inactivity with pulling in its resources and stops rebuilding the cells in that area and the area shrinks. This may not be very noticeable with a single missing tooth, but as more and more teeth are lost, the effects become clear. Decreased jawbone size has become synonymous with being older, so, when we observe a sunken or fallen facial structure, we visually assume the person to be older. Loose dentures may provide the teeth portion, but they do not provide the root portion, the part that applies pressure to your bone, keeping it healthy.

The All-on-4® Treatment Concept can reverse those effects and help you maintain your facial shape. By placing four implanted posts in either your upper or lower jaw, we are creating a connection between your teeth and your jaws. These points of impact tells your bone that those important rebuilding cells are once again needed, helping your bone strengthen and rebuild. The placement of dental implants is not only beneficial to your comfort and function, but they are also important to your oral health after the loss of your natural teeth. Dr. Franco can help you have teeth that will allow you to chew, improve your speech, and give you the confidence that you have lacked since the loss of your natural teeth. The All-on-4® Treatment Concept is easier and less expensive than you think, our staff at BiteLock can show you how.
